When a patient takes a blood pressure reading that generates a high alert, the patient is prompted to retake the reading. In this scenario, the patient is due to take their blood pressure reading at 9:00 a.m. and they have a blood pressure of 190/80, the patient is prompted to retake the reading in one minute. When the next reading is still at a high level, they are prompted to do a follow up reading in one hour.
The tablet prompts the Patient to take their Blood Pressure reading. The Patient's blood pressure is 190/80 (190 for the systolic and 80 for the diastolic). The Patient confirms these entries by selecting Yes.
- The Patient's Systolic reading is above the High Alert Upper Boundary in the Systolic panel, so the tablet displays the countdown screen.
Note: The Time between readings is set one minute in the Abnormal Reading Configuration panel.
After one minute, the Patient retakes their Blood Pressure reading, and their Systolic reading is still at the High Alert level.
The Follow Up delay for the next reading is 60 minutes (one hour), and the countdown screen appears.
The Patient selects OK.
The "Done for Now" check mark appears on the Blood Pressure button.
After an hour, the next Blood Pressure reading is due. The Blood Pressure button on the tablet turns orange, and the tablet beeps every other minute.
If the Patient takes a Blood Pressure reading and if no other Surveys are due that day, the Blood Pressure button turns gray, and a green checkmark displays by the button.
The entry appears on the Patient Monitoring page:
If the Patient does not take a Blood Pressure reading after 30 minutes (which is half of the Follow Up Delay time), the reading is considered late, the Blood Pressure button turns red, and the tablet beeps every minute.
